The Arc 20-day Caribbean Leadership Voyage is an exciting fast-paced adventure run aboard S/Y Ocean Star, our 90-ft classic schooner. From the British Virgin Islands you and your team will pilot the vessel throughout the leeward's as far south as antigua, visiting over 10 different islands along the way. Sailing and scuba certifications as well as a college accredited student leadership development class are strong components of this incredible opportunity.

We spend only three days in the British Virgin Islands "learning the ropes" before pointing our bow toward the Dutch island of Saba. Rising almost straight up from the sea, this volcanic island has no real port, so we anchor off and go ashore in our dinghies. We hike up 500 steps of The Ladder carved in the rock to the old town named The Bottom, located high on a mountainside. The town is built in old Dutch style and is one of the most peaceful and friendly places in the entire Caribbean.

St. Eustatius is only a short sail to the southeast and provides our anchorage that night. The Quill, an almost perfectly symmetrical volcano, is worth the climb. First we climb up and then, while holding onto vines, hike down into the inside of this inactive yet impressive volcano. Climbing out, the view of St. Kitts from the top of the volcano lures us onward Working together, we trim sails and navigate down the coast to St. Kitts and Nevis. We visit ashore before battening down the hatches for our next sail all the way to English Harbor, Antigua. The British fleet was based here in the late 18th century, and we have the opportunity to tour the renovated buildings of Nelson's Dockyard and spend the evening at the famous Shirley Heights. On passage to St. Barts, flying fish lead the way to Gustavia Harbor, which is ringed by old buildings rooted in volcanic rock. Here we'll sample French cuisine and learn to surf at Orient Beach before heading back to the British Virgin Islands for the final days of the program.

This program is offered in conjunction with our college-level program Sea|mester.
